11/09/2018 - UOM Chamundi-Zone Men Championship 2018-19

Department of Physical Education and sports, NIE FGC, Mysuru organized UOM Chamundi -Zone Inter-Collegiate Badminton, Table Tennis, Throw ball and Volley ball Men Championship 2018-19 on Monday 10th September 2018 at 9:00 AM. The event was inaugurated by Sri Kashinath N, International Throw ball Referee, Mysuru. Over 800 participants from 40 different educational institutions had participated in the UOM Chamundi-Zone Inter-Collegiate Men championship. After the event, Sri. Bhaskara, J, Physical Education Director, NIE FGC, welcomed the gathering. The chief guest Dr. P Krishnaiah, Director, Department of Physical Education, UOM, Mysuru spoke about the discipline maintained by the sports and appreciation for Organizing the Tournament. Out of 40 colleges, PGSE, Mansagangotri secured Volleyball Winner and Badminton Runner, SBRR MFGC secured Badminton winner and Table Tennis Runner, Maharajas FGC secured Throw ball Winner and Volley ball Runner, Sheshadripuram FGC secured Table Tennis Winner and JSS FGC (ooty-road) Throw ball Runner. Trophies, medals and certificates were given to the respective position winner and Runner by Sri. Kashinath N, Dr. P Krishnaiah, Dr. Krishna kumar H S , Smt. Suma B A. and Bhaskara J. Tewnty-five officials worked for the tournament. Dr. Krishna kumar H S Convener, Chamundi-Zone Sports Committee presided the function. Smt. Suma B A, Principal, NIE FGC and Bhaskara J PEd NIE FGC were also present.

08/09/2018 - Cultural Competitions and Freshmen’s Day 2018-19

Dance competitions on behalf of talents Day was organized in the college quadrangle on 8th Sept 2018. Solo and group dances were held. Many students from various streams took part in these competitions. Prior to this, singing competition was also held on 18th Aug 2018. After the competitions, freshmen’s day was celebrated. Second and third year students from various streams had organized the function. They conducted various games for the freshmen. Best dressed male and female were selected.

20/08/2018 - “ Traffic Awareness Programme ” conducted by Rotaract Club of Mysore

Rotaract Club of Mysore conducted a “ Traffic awareness program ” about Traffic Rules and Regulations for Rotaract members in the seminar hall from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on 20th Aug 2018. Mr. Shivakumar, Sub inspector, K.R traffic police station, Mysore was the Chief Guest. C M Subramiah Deputy Chief traffic warden, K R traffic police station ,Mysore, R.V Ramnath, Traffic warden,K.R traffic police station, Mysore were the guest and Smt.Suma B A Principal NIE FGC presided over the function. They gave information regarding Traffic Rules and details of accidents taking place all over India. They also presented some videos how accidents take place . Everyone promised to follow traffic rules and regulations. After that the President of the Rotaract Club adjourned the programme.

14/08/2018 - Yoga and Personality Development Programme

Department of Kannada organized a lecture programme on “ Yoga & Personality Development ” in the college premises for students and staff members. Yoga Guru Dr. K. Raghavendra R. Pai was the Chief Guest and Resource Person. He gave 2 hours lecture and valuable guidance about yoga and personality development. The Programme was presided by Smt.Suma B.A.,Principal, NIE FGC.

10/08/2018 - Talk on Preservation of food and packaging

Kanada Science Forum of the College organized a talk on “Preservation of food and packaging”. The resource person was Dr. S N Sabapathy, Head of food engineering and packaging division, Associate Director, DFRL. He gave a brief introduction about the need of DFRL and the motto of DFRL which is to cater the needs of food for soldiers in the war fields. He recalled about his experience he faced during the Kargil war. He told that DFRL also consists of different units namely, Food preservation and packaging units which forecast the needs of food in our society. He gave the brief information about the food spoilage, pasteurisation, sterilization, and working of a domestic pressure cooker and also interacted with the students.

06/08/2018 - Stage Chemistry-Neuro-Psychiatric Disorders on stage

A play was arranged by the English Department in our college seminar hall. The play was titled “Stage Chemistry-Neuro-Psychiatric Disorders on stage” in English language. The troupe was headed by Dr. R.Purnima ,Director, Children’s Literary Club Mysore. Dr. R.Purnima was Professor of English at Karnataka State Open University earlier. Her team mates were Mrs.Anuradha Nandakumar, Mrs Sandya Dinesh, Mrs Sharada H.S and Dr. Madhuri Kulakarni who are from different walks of life. The play was about some of the Neuro-Psychiatric Disorders like Depression, Alzheimer’s etc. The play highlighted some aspects of Hallucination also by enacting few scenes from ‘Macbeth’ written by Shakespeare. The play was very touching, educative and informative. Students and the staff, who were the audience appreciated the performance and applauded the actors.

21/07/2018 - Rotaract Club Installation

Rotaract Club Installation was held in college seminar hall. The program commenced by lighting the lamp. The Chief guest and Installing Officer Rtn. Sumeeth G S did collaring for upcoming President Rtr. Keerthi Pawar D. Rtn. Mubeen Sait gave a oath to new Rotaractors. Rtn. Ramachandra Raje Urs released the new bulletin for the month of July. Rtn. T K Chittarnjan released the letterhead for the year. Rtr. Manjesh V and ZRR Jeswandhar C addressed the gathering. Rtr. Manjesh V distributed the sampling to community service Director Rtr. Prajwal Kumar M V. and finally President adjourned the meeting.

10/07/2018 - Inauguration of Youth Red Cross Wing 2018 - 19

NIE First Grade College had organized the inaugural function of Youth Red Cross Wing for the academic 2018-19 on 10th July 2018 at its premises. Prof. M Mahadevappa Vice Chairman, IRCS Mysuru, was the Chief Guest, Smt. Suma B A, Principal, presided the programme and Smt. Poornima A R and Smt. Priya M R Program Officers were present. In the Programme, Office bearers of Youth Red Cross Wing were announced and respective badges were presented to them by the Chief Guest. The oath of Youth Red Cross Wing was read out by the Principal Smt. Suma B A and pledge was taken by all the students. Prof. M Mahadevappa, Chief Guest addressed the gathering. He delivered a talk on Red Cross and its history, gave complete details about YRC and information about blood donation. The presentation was very informative and interesting. The interaction with the students was very positive.

02/07/2018 - Formation of Student Union 2018-19

As is customary the student Union was formed for this academic year 2018-19. All the Class representatives of various streams and sections were called and formally the President, Secretary, Cultural Secretary and Sports Secretary were elected. 30/06/2018 - Career Guidance Programme for Final Year Students

NIE FGC Alumni Association organized a Career Guidance Programme for Final Year BSc & BCA students. The programme was intended to give a clear idea about future career aspirations. Mr. Sharath Chandra M. V., Alumni of the college 2005-08 BSc passed out Batch was the resource person. He gave valuable career advice to the students, he focused on opportunities available after the graduation and suggested students to concentrate more on the soft skill. The Programme was presided by Smt.Suma B. A.,Principal,NIE FGC.
